SNAP and Wireless LAN Available in Arts

Faculty Computing has installed several wireless LAN base stations throughout Arts.

The intentions of this service are:
  • to provide wireless network access in specific locations for University and non-University owned computers
  • to provide limited wired network access in specific locations for non-University owned computers
All of the wireless access points have been configured to be used with the SNAP network on campus.

In addition to these access points, the Faculty now offers Postgraduate students access to four Postgraduate rooms on the 1st floor of the Arts Building (rooms 1.29, 1.30, 1.54a and 1.54b). Cubicles in these rooms can be reserved by Postgraduate students and all of them have been set up with wired SNAP data points and power so students can use their own private laptop, when configured for SNAP, to gain access to the network.

For more information about the SNAP network including how to gain access and configure your computer please see the following web page provided by UCS (University Communication Services). Please note that many of the laptop computers owned by the faculty will already be configured to work with SNAP.
